By Road

West from Inverness (64 miles); go up the A9, cross over the Kessock Bridge to the Tore roundabout and then turn left onto the A835. Go through Contin and then after Garve, turn left onto the A832 to Achnasheen.  At the roundabout in Achnasheen, turn left again onto the A890. Just before Lochcarron turn left for Strathcarron/Kyle of Lochalsh and continue on the A890 for about 4 miles until you reach Attadale.

NB Do not rely on our postcode of IV54 8YX to find us as it covers almost the whole of the South side of Loch Carron and tends to take you to the Carron Restaurant and the Carron Gallery & Pottery which is a mile away from the entrance to the Gardens. Look out for Attadale railway station and the entrance is signposted by two large signs which say Attadale Gardens.

North from Fort William (82 miles) on the A82 to Invergarry, and then turn left via the A87 through Glen Shiel to Shiel Bridge. Continue through Inverinate and Dornie, then turn right onto the A890 to Strathcarron. Continue on this road for about 7 miles until you reach Attadale on the left.

Look out for the entrance which is signposted by two large signs which say Attadale Gardens.

 

South from Ullapool (102 miles), first on the A835 towards Inverness then turn left onto the A832 coast road. Go through Poolewe, Gairloch and Kinlochewe to Achnasheen, at the roundabout turn left onto the A890. Just before Lochcarron, turn left for Strathcarron/Kyle of Lochalsh and continue straight on the A890 for about 4 miles.

Look out for Attadale railway station on your right and the entrance is signposted by two large signs which say Attadale Gardens on the left.

Access by Rail: -

Attadale railway station is conveniently situated for the gardens. The station is on the picturesque Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh line. Using the Scotrail service on the Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh line is a wonderful experience, the line has long been regarded as one of the most breathtaking in the UK.

Attadale Gardens are only 200m from Attadale Railway Station. Here are some example times of using the railway to visit Attadale Gardens.

From Inverness or any intermediate station.

Leave Inverness at 08:55 arrive at Attadale at 10:52

Return to Inverness at either 12:44 or 14:22.

Or leave Inverness at 10:56 arrive at Attadale at 12:56

Return to Inverness at 14:22 .

From Kyle or any intermediate station.

Leave Kyle at 12:08 arrive at Attadale at 12:45

Return to Kyle at 15:34.

The examples shown are based on timetables for March 2024, please check the current timetable for the times you intend to travel.

Visit Attadale from London as a Day return, of sorts.

Leave London Euston at 21:15 on the Inverness section of the Caledonian sleeper, arriving in Inverness at 08:36 with time to catch the 08:55 Kyle service to Attadale. Enjoy the gardens and surrounding areas until you depart on the 14:23 or 17:55back to Inverness. Your sleeper leaves about 20:44 back to London which arrives at about 07:40. 

The truth is that you would want to stay longer to enjoy the wonders of the Highlands, but if time really is pressing join us for an awayday(s).

By Air: -

The nearest airport is Inverness Airport, approximately 8 miles east of the centre of Inverness. There are bus services from the airport into the city centre or car hire is available from the airport.
