Work in a premier Scottish Garden

Attadale is a long-established garden on the NW coast of the Highlands of Scotland.  It comprises a woodland garden of 20 acres started in the late 19th century with a significant sculpture collection, a well-established tree and historic rhododendron collection and a variety of different gardens, all developed over the last thirty years. Three full-time gardeners work there with additional help in the spring and summer season.

An opportunity is offered to spend from one to three months' working in Attadale Gardens from Spring each year.  You will have the chance to work in different sections of the garden which comprises a major water garden, traditional kitchen garden with green house, a conservatory planted with semi-tropical plants, a fern collection in a geodesic dome, Japanese garden and an old sunken garden with four quarters of closely planted beds.

One of the major requirements is the need for a good command of the English language, as part of your duties will be to take your turn in the Gate House, where you will welcome visitors to the garden, explain what the garden has to offer and take the entrance fees.

Free separate studio accommodation will be provided with your own bathroom.  The estate is on the Inverness-Kyle railway but cars can be hired locally.  Attadale is ideally placed for exploring the NW Highlands on your two days' off a week. The Isle of Skye is to the South and the Applecross and Torridon hills are to the North.
