Planted after the 1989 gale, trees with contrasting foliage and bark were selected including betula jacquemontiii, prunus serrula and acer griseum for their bark: and more acers and sorbus for their brilliant foliage.

Roses include pimpinellifolia, rugos and a ten foot high r. moyesii.
