2010 SGS Open Day Saturday 22 May5th Jun 10

We were incredibly lucky. After a cloudy morning, the sun came out and by 2 o’clock people were flocking in and thanks to everyone, we were able to raise over £2,250 for the National Garden Scheme’s charities and our own Howard Doris Centre, a record for us. We should like to thank Ishbel and her helpers who produced the outstanding tea and were welcoming hostesses; Geoff and his team who made the garden look beautiful in spite of the icy winter and late frosts; and Sandy for providing the perfect musical background. Thanks too to Nick Young for bringing over the chairs and tables from the Centre. More thanks for all the generous raffle prizes from local friends and businesses. The entrance total was over £1000, the raffle raised £283, the teas £850 and Highland Lilliums donated 20% of their plant sales - £105.
